A collision between a double-decker bus and a Tesla on Wetherby Road, near Rufforth, York, resulted in the death of one person and injuries to five others. The incident occurred at 09:22 BST on Saturday.
North Yorkshire Police reported that a 31-year-old man from Newcastle, a passenger in the Tesla, died at the scene. The driver of the Tesla, a 32-year-old man from Teesside, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Three other passengers in the Tesla, along with the driver of the bus, sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment.
Emergency services responded promptly, deploying two air ambulances, three other ambulances, and a Hazardous Area Response Team to manage the situation and provide medical assistance. The road was temporarily closed as authorities conducted their investigation into the cause of the crash.
North Yorkshire Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and have appealed for any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage to come forward.
