In a disturbing incident that has sparked outrage on social media, a landlord in Mund Jamrao village, Sanghar district, allegedly severed a camel’s leg as punishment for foraging in his field. The Sanghar SSP, upon noticing the widespread news, promptly contacted the camel’s owner, Soomar Behan, a poor peasant who narrated the horrific incident at the Sanghar press club.
Soomar Behan recounted the brutal act, expressing his confusion and distress. “I have no enmity with anyone. I don’t know why this was done to my camel,” he said. Despite his reluctance to identify the culprit or press charges, the police have taken decisive action.
The incident has not only caught the attention of local authorities but also the Chief Minister of Sindh, who has taken serious notice of the cruelty. Police officials have arrested five individuals suspected of involvement in the brutal act. An FIR has been lodged under sections 429 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on behalf of the state.
“The state is the complainant in this case,” said a police official, emphasizing that the severity of the crime warranted immediate legal action regardless of any compromise between the involved parties.
