The Civil Guard has officially called off the search for 19-year-old Jay Slater near the mountain village of Masca in Tenerife. Despite nearly two weeks of intensive search efforts involving sniffer dogs, a helicopter, and mountain rescue experts, no trace of the missing apprentice bricklayer has been found.
The police have confirmed that the case “remains open” and that they will continue to act on any new information or tip-offs. The decision to end the active search follows a final operation that involved approximately 30 police officers, firefighters, Civil Protection personnel, and volunteers, which failed to yield any results.
Jay Slater was reported missing on June 17, and since then, search efforts have been ongoing. The confirmation of the search being called off marks a significant and somber development in the ongoing case.
