A seven-month-old baby girl died after being mauled by the family dog at their home in Coventry. The tragic event occurred at a property on Shorncliffe Road shortly after 3 pm, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
The West Midlands Police reported that they, along with ambulance colleagues, arrived at the scene within minutes of the call. The baby had sustained severe head injuries from the dog bite and was treated by paramedics before being rushed to the hospital. Despite the medical team’s best efforts, the infant tragically passed away a short time later.
The dog involved in the attack, which is not classified as a dangerous breed, was subsequently destroyed.
