An accidental grenade explosion at Jamshoro Police Station has left six individuals injured, including five policemen and one suspect. The explosion occurred in the evidence lockup where old hand grenades were stored. According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Tariq Razzak Dharejo, the grenades detonated due to the extreme heat, confirming there was no act of terrorism involved.
“Four of our officers were injured and are on respirators,” DIG Dharejo stated. “Two of them are being sent to Aga Khan Hospital for treatment since their condition is slightly worse.”
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tariq Nawaz added that two of the injured were transferred to Civil Hospital in Hyderabad in critical condition. The blast caused significant damage to the police station, blowing apart walls and destroying vehicles such as rickshaws and motorcycles.
The injured individuals have been identified as head constable Mohammad Bux, ASIs Rasool Bux and Ghulam Moiuddin, police constables Irshad and Ali Abdul Taif, and a suspect named Jamshed, who was in the lockup at the time of the explosion.
DIG Dharejo and SSP Nawaz were present at the scene and later accompanied the injured personnel to Civil Hospital Hyderabad.
