Three women, aged 25, 28, and 61, were tragically killed in a crossbow attack in Hertfordshire on Tuesday evening. Police responded to the incident around 7 pm on the quiet street of Ashlyn Close in Bushey. The three women, who are understood to be related, died at the scene despite the best efforts of emergency responders.
A murder investigation was immediately launched, and a manhunt for the suspect, Kyle Clifford, is ongoing. Clifford, 26, is believed to be the ex-boyfriend of one of the victims. Police have warned the public not to approach him as he may still be in possession of a crossbow and potentially other weapons.
It has been reported that the three women were the family of John Hunt, a BBC Five Live racing commentator. The Telegraph stated that the victims were Hunt’s wife and two daughters. The news has sent shockwaves through the community, with neighbors and local residents expressing their disbelief and sorrow over the horrific incident.
The headteacher of St Michael’s Primary School in Enfield, where Clifford is believed to be in the vicinity, has confirmed that pupils are being kept inside as a precaution. Police conducted a reassurance visit to the school and advised staff to continue as normally as possible.
Chief Superintendent Jon Simpson addressed the public, urging anyone with information on Clifford’s whereabouts to contact the police immediately. He emphasized the importance of public safety and advised against approaching the suspect.
This incident has deeply affected the local community, and additional officers have been deployed to provide support and reassurance. The investigation continues, and police are appealing to anyone who was in the area around Ashlyn Close from lunchtime on Tuesday until 7 pm and believes they may have seen anything that could assist the investigation to come forward.
