Adele has announced that she will be taking an extended hiatus from performing following the conclusion of her European tour, with her final show held in Munich, Germany. The 36-year-old singer, who has been performing nearly continuously for the past three years, expressed to her fans that she “needs a rest” and is ready to “live my new life I’ve been building.”
The London-born artist, who recently revealed her engagement during a concert in Munich, has been a prominent figure on stage with a weekend residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for the last two years. Her final European performances included a record-breaking 10-date stint at the Messe exhibition centre in Munich, where over 730,000 tickets were sold, making it the largest temporary arena constructed outside of Las Vegas.
During her last show in Munich, Adele shared her gratitude with the audience, saying, “I’m not the most comfortable performer, but I am very f****** good at it, and I’ve really enjoyed performing for nearly three years now.” She also confirmed that she has 10 shows remaining in her Las Vegas residency, which had been postponed due to illness. Once those shows conclude, Adele plans to take a significant break from the stage.
Adele’s decision to step away from performing comes as she looks forward to embracing the new life she has been cultivating over the past seven years. She assured her fans that she will hold her recent performances “dear in my heart” as she takes this time off from the spotlight.
