An Israeli airstrike hit the courtyard of a hospital in central Gaza, killing four people and leaving over two dozen with severe burns. The attack occurred at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, where a tent camp was sheltering displaced people.
According to Palestinian medics, the strike caused flames to sweep through the packed tent camp, intensifying the damage and injuries.
The Israeli military stated that the target was militants hiding among civilians but did not provide evidence to support this claim. The incident comes as tensions remain high in Gaza, with civilian areas frequently impacted by ongoing airstrikes.
The hospital was already treating patients from an earlier strike on a school in nearby Nuseirat. That attack resulted in at least 23 deaths, adding to the mounting toll of casualties in the region.
Hospitals in Gaza have been overwhelmed by the number of injured civilians, with medical facilities struggling to cope with the increasing demand for treatment amid the ongoing conflict.
