The UK government has imposed sanctions on key Iranian military officials and technology agencies in response to Tehran’s mass ballistic missile attack on Israel on 1 October.
The package, announced by the Foreign Office, targets senior members of the Iranian army, air force, and the intelligence wing of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Sanctions will also impact the Farzanegan Propulsion Systems Design Bureau and the Iranian Space Agency for their role in developing missile technologies.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy stressed that Iran’s continued actions are causing further instability in the Middle East, stating that the UK is holding Iran accountable alongside its international allies.
These sanctions are part of broader efforts by the UK and its partners to challenge Iran’s increasing threats and press for de-escalation in the region.
