Seven Dead Including Officer in IED Attack on Military Vehicle in Lakki Marwat

by Mohammed Ahmed

Seven individuals, including a military officer, lost their lives in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on a Pakistan military vehicle in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The attack occurred an hour before midday as the vehicle was traveling to the Kachi Kamar area of Sultan Khel.

According to senior local officials, the explosion resulted in six immediate fatalities, including a captain. One critically injured soldier later succumbed to injuries, raising the death toll to seven. The explosion created a crater approximately 4 feet deep and 6 feet wide at the site.

The militants did not stop at the IED explosion; they launched a subsequent firing raid on the vehicle. Rescue officials quickly responded, dispatching four ambulances to the remote, arid area. Despite their rapid response, the severity of the attack left little chance for survival for those directly impacted.

Local authorities have begun a thorough investigation into the incident. An officer on the scene described the extensive damage and the implications for regional security. This attack underscores the persistent threat posed by militants in the area, raising significant concerns about the safety of military and civilian personnel alike.

The Lakki Marwat region has witnessed similar attacks in the past, reflecting ongoing instability and the need for heightened security measures. The military and local government are expected to increase their vigilance and response efforts in light of this devastating event.
