Omar Ayub Khan, the Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has resigned from his position to concentrate on his responsibilities as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of Pakistan. In a message shared on his official X handle, Ayub expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Imran Khan for accepting his resignation.
Ayub’s resignation was initially submitted to the PTI founder and Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali on June 22. Senator Shibli Faraz, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, delivered Ayub’s message to Imran Khan during a meeting at Adiala Jail.
Ayub conveyed his appreciation to all PTI members, parliamentarians, and office holders for their dedication and hard work. He noted that his duties as opposition leader made it challenging to fulfill the role of Secretary General effectively and suggested that someone else should be appointed to the position. Additionally, Ayub resigned from his role as Chairman of the PTI Central Finance Board.
Following Imran Khan’s instructions, further organizational changes within PTI are anticipated in the coming days.
